What’s the difference?

Pendleton Eco-Wise Wool – This special fabric has been Cradle to Cradle Certified by MBDC. It’s responsibly manufactured to leave as light a carbon footprint as possible, and at the end of its life, can be safely added back to earth as a nutrient. Its smooth texture is lighter than Melton, with more drape. Our customers like it for upholstery and outerwear.

Melton Wool – Melton is a durable, element-resistant woven wool fabric with thicker, substantial fibers and a soft, brushed surface. It has a heavier hand than Eco-Wise Wool. Because of its texture, Melton wool has minimal fraying. Super warm and water-resistant, it is a weatherproof choice for outerwear. Our customers also use it for upholstery.

Melton and Pendleton Eco-Wise Wool are both 100% wool, and the width varies from 54-56 inches wide. Eco-Wise is our recommendation for upholstery.

Happy Earth Day 2020!

Two young sheep stand in a pasture, looking directly at the camera.

Earth Day during Quarantine

In some ways, this is a difficult time to celebrate our planet, since we are all doing our best to observe quarantine protocols and stay indoors. But consider this. Right now, the Internet is full of inspiring shots of clean air, clear water and adventurous wildlife stepping out on city streets. Our planet is getting a well-earned rest for Earth Day.

Pendleton Eco-Wise Wool®

There are many, many products out there claiming to be “green.” From the sheep to the shelf, Pendleton Eco-Wise Wool® passes strict standards of sustainability and stewardship, verified and certified. This means that if you were to take a Pendleton Eco-Wise Wool® fabric and bury it, it would leave the earth better, not worse, for the addition.

So consider a project with Pendleton Eco-Wise Wool® – You can see it here (after the melton fabrics): Pendleton Eco-Wise Wool®

And Happy Earth Day. We will all remember this one, won’t we?

Lottie’s Roll Brim Hat

Creative Customer

Our customer Lottie Smith came by yesterday in the hat she made from Pendleton Eco-Wise Wool®. This adorable hat was made using a Green Pepper pattern that we carry. She only needed a ½ yard cut! Isn’t it the cutest?

Thanks, Lottie, for stopping by, and for modeling. Please ask us to see the pattern used to make this hat, we would love to share it with you!
