Something fun for Friday: Custom Suits with Pendleton Wool

A Customer Note

We received these fun photos from one of our customers, and wanted to share with you all for a Friday smile.

Dear Pendleton,

I hope this is something that can put a smile to your face, and hopefully be shared with other Pendleton fans. My husband, Jordan, and his best friend Ian, each had custom suits made with Pendleton Wool, and they absolutely couldn’t be happier.

LW_jackets

Jordan’s jacket is made of the “Basket Maker Turquoise” sponge weight fabric, and his pants are the Eco-wise wool in “Berry”. Ian’s jacket is made of “Pine Top Red”, and his paints are the color “Doe.” They accessorized with bolo ties, belt buckles, and the Stetson hats that they purchased over 10 years ago when they originally graduated. Both suits were beautifully tailored in Albuquerque, New Mexico by the tailor at Final Stitch Alterations and Clothing, who, I think, was pretty surprised by this request. I should also credit Ian’s dog Ned, who wanted to be in the picture.

Originally, they intended that the maiden voyage of these suits would be a yearly alumni event held in early March for their fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta, at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado, where Ian, Jordan, and I attended college. Unfortunately, like so many other people during these challenging times, we were unable to attend this year’s event because of work requirements related to cross-state travel and quarantine.  Instead, Ian and his wife Maria hosted Jordan and I for our own mini alumni event in Albuquerque to celebrate our friendship, our health, and of course, the Pendleton suits. With any luck, the suits will make a more public debut at next year’s event.

Thank you!

Emily

A Happy Customer with the WMS Upholstery Door Service

A note from a happy customer

Hi All,
I wanted to send a note to let you and your team know how pleased we are with our new cushions. The seamstress did such a fabulous job lining up the pattern and just the overall quality. The ladies who were at the store when I picked up the cushions asked if I would send a photo. Here is a before and after of the sunken living room in our 1972 home. We are in the process of remodeling the entire home to a “modern lodge” theme – this room is now our favorite!
Thanks again,
Tabitha

We are happy to share this beautiful transformation!

Creative Customer: Fit for a Queen!

Creativity Reigns!

We have two sets of photos of this young rider and contestant, in outfits made with Pendleton wool from our own USA looms. We couldn’t be more proud of how our patterns have been incorporated in these designs. You can click each photo to see a larger version.

First, a take a twirl with Rodeo Royalty: Pip competing at Junior Miss Rodeo Oregon in the dress she went on to wear during her reign as Little Miss NPRA 2018.

Dressed to ride

Next: Pip riding as she competed for Junior Miss Rodeo Oregon at the Philomath Frolic and Rodeo.

Her mother gave us all the details here:

My friend (designer at Ariana Head Designs) made these for my daughter to compete at Junior Miss Rodeo Oregon and for her to wear during her reign as Little Miss NPRA 2018.  We bought two yards of Pendleton and we were determined to use every piece we could. The dress was made with Pendleton and an aubergine velveteen. Those pictures were taken in fields outside of Pendleton, Oregon during the Round-Up. The vest was made with the same materials and patches added to her jeans which also matched her saddle pad (made by me).

Pendleton by Sunbrella Fabrics

Sunbrella for Pendleton Fabrics

The season for outdoor living is here, and Pendleton is ready with Pendleton by Sunbrella outdoor fabrics.

Sunbrella fabrics made into pillows, tent and chair, set up on the beach!

Pendleton consistently searches out the best partners for collaborations and shared projects. We have been delighted with our partnership with Glenraven on a line of Pendleton-patterned outdoor fabrics. These Pendleton by Sunbrella fabrics are perfect for all outdoor uses, including awnings, furniture, umbrellas, and anything else you can think of.  They also work indoors, for ultra-durable upholstery.

All About Glenraven

Like Pendleton, Glenraven (the company that produces Sunbrella fabrics) is a multi-generational family business. Also like Pendleton, Glenraven is headquartered in the USA. And, again, like Pendleton, they have maintained a strong commitment to weaving in the USA. You can see the Glenraven mill in action in this video.

Pendleton by Sunbrella fabrics use dyed threads for weaving, which means vivid, lasting color. That’s a similiarity to wool, which also takes dye all the way to the core.

One key reason Pendleton has been so proud to work with Glenraven lies in the company’s commitment to sustainability. Any used Sunbrella fabric can be returned to the company for recycling and re-use through their Renaissance program. You can read all about that here: Sustainability and Sunbrella

Did you know you can set a Sunbrella fabric in a bucket of bleach, and it won’t change its color? These fabrics will not run, stain, or fade…ever. The world’s clumsiest person can’t ruin Sunbrella fabrics, though you can watch someone try in this video:

The “Indoor Durability Challenge” will give you an idea of what Sunbrella fabrics can withstand.

Decorating ideas

We use these fabrics in our store designs, and choose them when our stores need awnings, as in our Pendleton store in Eugene, Oregon. They make an impact indoors or out, as you can see in this adorable camping trailer interior by @stagecoachdetaildesign that artfully uses Pendleton by Sunbrella fabrics.

A Camper Redux with Pendleton Wool Seat Covers

Rio Rancho Rules!

Our Rio Rancho fabric is inspiring so many customers, including Leilani Sullivan. Leilani and her husband have done an amazing job refurbishing a camper and making it into a dreamy, fun space that reflects their taste and talent for decorating, cooking and crafting –all while on the road!

Here are Leilani’s words on the project:

CAMPER-EXTERIOR-2

In the fall of 2016, we purchased a 2002 Jayco Granite Ridge 27 ‘ Class C RV. We spent some time that winter doing a little remodeling: painting the cabinets and counter tops, putting some burlap coffee bean sacks on the fronts and backs of the dining seats, above the cab and in the bathroom, and making new cushion covers and divider curtains for the bedroom and cab.

We camped in it for the next two seasons. We love camping, but didn’t love the carpet at all, as we travel with our dogs and usually have muddy boots from hiking. The fabric I used on my cushion covers was pretty, but not very good quality. So this past winter, we ordered new cushion covers through the Woolen Mill Store.

CAMPER #2

Wow, what a beautiful addition they are! They add a level of class that is rustic, elegant and very durable. We also took the carpet out and put down wood flooring that we made from cedar fence pickets. My husband milled the pickets down to 1/2″ thickness, distressed them, painted them with a vinegar and steel wool mixture to age them, waxed them and installed them in the RV.

CAMPER #3

We removed all the window valances, painted the window frames and then framed them out in the same wood as the floor.  We covered all the walls with the burlap sacks. We also added vinyl flooring that looks like wood to the backsplash, and headboard. We finished the projects by ordering fabric, and making custom window blinds.

CAMPER #1

All of the renovation makes our little RV feel like a homey rustic cabin. It is so inviting.  We love meeting up with friends for camping in the mountains of Colorado and to see the fall colors in Missouri. I know there are a lot of beautiful spots that we hope to see in the next few years.

More camping hobbies

We also have a lot of camping hobbies! What are those? We do some Dutch oven cooking.

DUTCH-OVEN-2

We also make lanterns out of old minnow buckets by drawing scenes on brown paper that we insert into the minnow bucket.

MINNOW-BUCKET

We hang the lanterns from our awnings for ambiance lighting.

SHIRTS

Another hobby is bleach painting on shirts – this is bleach painting on the picnic table at the campground.

Everyone who has seen the interior just loves it, and some are encouraging us to do another camper remodel! We recently purchased a 1974 Avion travel trailer as a project. Hopefully we will be able to have Pendleton help us add beautiful touches to this travel trailer as well.

Thank you, Leilani! This is inspiring. We love the truly handcrafted interior, and hope you’ll let us see your latest project as it unfolds.
